Postpartum Weight Loss, Done the Medical Way
Physician-designed programs for Jacksonville moms — including breastfeeding-safe plans and GLP-1 options when you’re ready
Your body just did something extraordinary, and it deserves better than a one-size-fits-all app and a stack of “bounce back” pressure. Postpartum weight loss is genuinely different: your hormones are still shifting, your sleep is broken, and if you’re breastfeeding, the popular GLP-1 medications are off the table for now. What works is a plan built by a physician who accounts for all of that — and adjusts it as your season changes.
Blissful Wellness has offered a dedicated postpartum diet plan for years as part of our medical weight loss programs. Dr. Blissenbach — a dual board-certified internal medicine and obesity medicine physician — starts where you are: breastfeeding-safe, non-medication plans while you’re nursing, and prescription programs like semaglutide when you’re done.
Every postpartum body has its own timeline. Most moms can begin a structured program after their postpartum checkup, and what that program looks like depends on where you are: still nursing, newly weaned, or a year past delivery and frustrated that the last of the baby weight won’t move. Each of those calls for a different plan — and sometimes lab work, because postpartum thyroid changes are common and often missed. As an internal medicine physician, Dr. Blissenbach can check for exactly that.
And because newborn logistics are real, your visits can happen from home: consultations and follow-ups are available via telehealth, nap schedule permitting. Book a free consultation whenever you’re ready.
Once you’re cleared and (if applicable) done breastfeeding, our GLP-1 programs — semaglutide or tirzepatide, with supportive injections and physician monitoring — pick up where the breastfeeding-safe diet plan leaves off.

Individual results vary. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are prescription medications and are not appropriate for everyone; eligibility is determined by Dr. Blissenbach during your consultation. These programs are not a guarantee of any specific amount of weight loss. GLP-1 medications are not used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding; breastfeeding-safe, non-medication plans are available in the meantime.
1. Get cleared, then call us. After your postpartum checkup, book a free consultation — in person on Herschel Street or via telehealth from the couch.
2. Start with the right plan. Breastfeeding-safe diet plan while nursing, with labs if postpartum thyroid or hormone changes might be in play.
3. Transition when you’re ready. Once you’ve weaned and Dr. Blissenbach confirms eligibility, step up to a semaglutide or tirzepatide program if it’s right for you.
4. Keep it sustainable. Regular check-ins that respect the reality of life with a baby — progress that survives growth spurts and sleep regressions.
