06 Jun THE MODERN FARMING INDUSTRY AND VITAMINS
The following is only part of the extensive information we offer as part of our physician-directed weight loss programs in Jacksonville. What our ancestors didn’t get from the sun, they consumed in the food they ate. But back when we were hunters and gatherers, we weren’t burdened with fast and processed food. Stuff which has been proven to be nutritionally bankrupt, and offers scant hope to achieve a balanced, healthy diet. Modern farming techniques have little to do with nutrition. Years ago, vitamins and other nutrients were replenished in the soil and transferred into the plants, but farming techniques have changed drastically… and so has the vitamin and nutrient content of the crops. Modern farming techniques compel us to determine what is and what is not in our food to plan a balanced, healthy diet; consider:
- Spreading tons of chemical fertilizers and pesticide makes the soil grow weaker and more dependent upon the tons of artificial fertilizers sown into it year after year.
- Livestock is being injected with antibiotics and hormones solely to get them to be bigger and fatter and to get them to market faster.
- The criteria for “good nutritious food” is often based solely on the appearance of brighter and bigger vegetables and artificially created red succulent-looking meat.
In addition to modern farming techniques, note that vitamins and other nutrients are lost when storing, drying, freezing, and processing your food. Overall, this means that today’s food no longer contains the vitamins and other nutrients that are required for good long-term health.
